Frontline Flea Control Kills Fleas Quickly and Effectively

It's not just you who loves your adorable little pet. Flea, tick and other parasitic infestations can beset your dog, causing discomfort or more serious problems. Most dogs which are allowed out into nature will at some point pick up dog's ticks, flea or other infestations.

Don't be alarmed though. For the most part these parasites are a ordinary nuisance that can be easily dealt with and eradicated.

However, you must realize that when left untreated the outcome of a flea infestation will be sores and bald patches causing your pet much suffering and discomfort. In extreme situations, unchecked flea infestations will cause anemia and the eventual death of your pet, if one is neglectful enough to let it go that far.

When we take a close up look at the little creatures, we may find some surprises. There are actually many different types of fleas. Different pets have different species of fleas. The fleas generally can survive on any type of mammal (including humans!), but are unable to breed without their principal host. The female, being about 2.5 mm long, is of a larger size than the male.

Fleas are capable of jumping vertically for 5 or 6 inches (about 15 cm), and they attach themselves to skin or clothing. If this is not a complete nightmare for you, the idea that fleas can reproduce quickly and infest a home should be ample reason to be concerned!

What will kill fleas? Dogs are often treated with dips or shampoos, while flea collars work great for cats. An effective flea treatment is important as a regular routine for your pet. It can be confusing to decide what type of treatment will work best for your pet.

With conscious animal care, fleas can be controlled. There are numerous treatments readily available to pet owners, and they work in a variety of ways.

If there is an obvious infestation, using a medicated shampoo is very effective immediately. However, it is a temporary solution as very little medication remains on the animal's coat. This method is best if you would like an immediate flea-free environment.

For routine care and small infections however, dips can be too strong. For low level infestations, flea powders and sprays are suitable for providing nearly week long protection from both fleas and ticks.
