Dog houses that comes with a pitched roof is a good design to choose when you plan to build a house for your dog. This allows water to run off and saves you from roof replacements. However, dog houses with flat roofs should be avoided especially if you live in a snowy climate because when the roof tends to collapse then your dog might possibly be injured or killed.

Dog houses need not be huge; about 25-50% longer, wider and taller than your dog will suffice. It need not be insulated because it may be too warm especially in the spring and summer seasons. Some dog houses has swinging doors, your pet may even love this but keep in mind that dogs may love to chew on things that move. Some are elevated on blocks. This comes with two reasons. First is that the space beneath the floor allows some air circulation within the dog house. The second reason is that it keeps the underside of the dog house off the ground during the wet seasons.

Newer doghouses nowadays are constructed really well these days and would outlast for years to come. So when you get to pick your own dog house or when you decide to build your own dog house it is not really hard for you to choose one. There are many different styles to choose from and make sure that it will be pleasing for you both and your pet. Make sure that the pain you chose is non-toxic as you have to bear in mind that dogs love to chew on things.

When you get to choose the right dog house make sure it will protect your dog from bad weather and it would make him feel safe and secure.
